Net Zero Energy Collaboration is a consultation and building management group which helps business owners, non-profits, communities and homeowners reduce overall energy and water consumption to a goal of “Net Zero”.
What is Net Zero Energy: Producing as much energy on an annual basis as one consumes on site, usually with renewable energy sources.
The first step in Net Zero Energy is reducing overall energy use through strategies in building science and thermal boundaries, water use, lighting and controls, HVAC efficiency and controls, appliances, motors, equipment, phantom loads and anything else that may use energy.
Matt Grocoff: Awarded the 2012 Michigan Green Leader by the Detroit Free Press and has been called one of “Greater Detroit’s most progressive personalities”. He is a net-zero energy and building performance consultant, co-founder of Mission Zero Fest and a nationally renowned advocate and authority on green building design and retrofits. Matt is host of Greenovation.TV, a contributor to the Environment Report on public radio and the green renovation expert for Old House Web. Matt has a Mission Zero goal to eliminate the negative environmental impact of every building in America.
Kevin McNeely: An expert in resource management and resource use reduction strategies for industrial facilities and industrial operations; institutional, commercial, industrial and residential building owners, managers and occupants. He currently maintains multiple certifications through Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and is a certified ResNET HERS Rater and Building Performance Institute certified Building Analyst Professional. Kevin currently serves on the US Green Building Council – Detroit Regional Chapters LEED for Homes Committee and LEED for Neighborhood Development Committee; he has also served on the USGBC – DRC Commercial Real Estate Committee and the Green Schools Committee in the past and he has been elected to the DRC’s steering committee for the past 3 years.
David Eifrid: Founder of Greenlife Building and an experienced builder and consultant on sustainable building practices and certifications. David has worked with the nations leading builders as their energy consultant and LEED administrator. David has performed energy audits for restaurants, municipal buildings, and commercial buildings, multi-family and residential.
